Nanocount is now available

Dear future user,

I am happy you found your way to this blog that is to serve as a distribution hotspot for Nanocount. Nanocount is already up to its third version, but was not really been made available freely up till now. So here is a short history of how this version came to be.

Nanocount version 1: This version was a mere matlab code, whose sole purpose was to develop and test the Deconvolution method. This method is discussed in a paper authored by myself:

or

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/266146145_A_signal_deconvolution_method_to_discriminate_smaller_nanoparticles_in_single_particle_ICP-MS

Nanocount version 2: At the time of formation of this version, only spreadsheets were available to calculate particle size distributions using simple calculations. More advanced features were not available and most certainly could the deconvolution method not be executed in a spreadsheet format. Moreover, a spreadsheet format allowed very little control on the many different parameters that influence the calculated outcome. A interactive environment was therefore programmed, albeit in Matlab, where the user could gain more control. At the same time, the drift correction procedure was developed and included in the software suite. The paper discussing this method can be found at:

or

Nanocount version 2 was also subjected to a first round of review by a limited number of reviewers. This valuable review eventually lead to improvements in version 3.

Nanocount version 3: This is the currently available version. Relatively to version 2, several improvements have been made, most notably, an improved app for nebulisation efficiency calculation and addition of a few more signal discrimination methods in the remove dissolved app.
